These crumbs blocked the highway
There were plenty of tortilla chips but no salsa Tuesday afternoon on the Southwest Freeway.
An 18-wheeler’s lost load of chips caused major delays for inbound commuters.
Texas Department of Transportation crews worked to clear the freeway, but northbound traffic near Montrose Boulevard narrowed down to one lane.
TxDOT predicted the freeway would be mostly closed well into rush hour Tuesday evening. The lost load was reported sometime before 5 p.m., according to TxDOT.
Authorities with the Houston Police Department said the chips left a slew of crumbs across four of the freeway’s outside lanes.
