Man is charged in shooting death

A man has been charged with capital murder in a May shooting at a north Harris County apartment complex, authorities said.

Justin Parker, 28, faces charges in the May 31 shooting death of a man at 7302 Alabonson, the Inwood Groves Apartments. When officers arrived to reports of gunshots that day, another man, Matthew Franklin, was already dead at the scene.

Deputies said they believe that Parker lured Franklin to the scene to buy car parts and killed him while committing a robbery, according to the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office.

Parker tried evading police several weeks later but was caught and arrested, deputies said.

At the time of the shooting, Parker was out on $120,000 bond on three aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon charges and one aggravated assault as a public servant charge.
