BALTIMORE ORIOLES

RHP Dylan Bundy was placed on the 10-day disabled list after spraining his ankle running the bases in an interleague game.

Manager Buck Showalter expects Bundy to return for a July 6 game in Minnesota.

CHICAGO CUBS

The team placed Kris Bryant on the 10-day DL with left shoulder inflammation, marking the first time the fourthyear player has gone on the DL.

The move is retroactive to Saturday, making Bryant eligible to return in a week.

Manager Joe Maddon says the injury is not considered serious, and he expects Bryant to be activated next Tuesday. Maddon says the team wants to “make sure that he is well” and “cool down and just have him be well afterward.”

NEW YORK METS

General manager Sandy Alderson is taking a leave of absence because his cancer has returned, and he does not expect to return to the job.

“With respect to the future, I would say two things: One is, notwithstanding the good prognosis, my health is an uncertainty going forward,” said Alderson, who agreed to a contract extension in December. “And secondly, if I were to look at it on the merits, I’m not sure coming back is warranted.”

TEXAS RANGERS

The club placed 1B Ronald Guzman on the seven-day concussion DL and recalled utilityman Ryan Rua from Class AAA Round Rock.

The move came a day after Guzman left in the sixth inning of a 7-4 win over San Diego after his head struck the knee of 3B Christian Villanueva as the rookie was diving back on an attempted pickoff.
