Retired deputy indicted on 3 counts of child porn
A former lieutenant for the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office has been indicted by a grand jury on child pornography charges, according to federal court records.
John Ray Langley, who retired as a lieutenant in charge of personnel for the Brazoria County Sheriff ’s Office in 2013, was arrested Wednesday and charged with three felony counts: receipt of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Langley “knowingly” received and distributed material containing child pornography and possessed still images and videos of child pornography on a desktop computer, according to the indictment filed by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas.

bond and was released on house arrest. Under the conditions of his house arrest, Langley must submit to location monitoring by a supervising officer and mental health treatment.
He is not allowed to possess a firearm, drink excessively, use narcotics or access a home computer. Langley’s computer was seized by federal authorities.
Reached by phone, Langley’s attorney, Stanley Schneider, said he did not think it was newsworthy that Langley, who had a 40-year career in law enforcement, was charged with these crimes.
“To me it’s a story about an older man being arrested for child pornography and it’s an unfortunate situation,” Schneider said. “He’s not a public official, nor has he been for several years.”
Langley’s pretrial conference is scheduled for Aug. 3, and a jury trial date has been set for Aug. 13.
All three charges each carry a minimum sentence of five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
The first two counts of receipt and distribution of child pornography carry a maximum sentence of 20 years. The third count of possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.
