Porcello, Bosox outlast Nationals

WASHINGTON — Rick Porcello hit a three-run double off former teammate Max Scherzer and pitched six effective innings, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 victory over the Washington Nationals on Monday.

Scherzer and Porcello were teammates for five seasons with the Detroit Tigers.

Porcello (10-3) allowed two runs and seven hits. Craig Kimbrel got four outs for his 25th save.

BRAVES 5, YANKEES 3: Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a tworun homer in the 11th inning that nicked the glove of a leaping Aaron Judge in right field, and Atlanta beat New York at Yankee Stadium in a matchup between the top teams in each league.

MARLINS 3, RAYS 2: Yadiel Rivera’s infield hit in the 10th inning scored Brian Anderson, lifting Miami to a win over visiting Tampa Bay. The Rays have lost 21 one-run games, most in the majors.

INDIANS 9, ROYALS 3: Francisco Lindor homered twice, including a grand slam, and finished with a career-high seven RBIs as AL-Central leading Cleveland routed host Kansas City.

ROCKIES 5, GIANTS 2: Kyle Freeland turned in another sizzling start, and host Colorado scored the goahead run in the seventh on a throwing error by shortstop Brandon Crawford to rally past San Francisco.

CARDINALS 6, DIAMONDBAC­KS 3: Yadier Molina homered and had three RBIs, Carlos Martinez pitched six effective innings, and St. Louis ended a four-game losing streak with a win at Arizona.

TIGERS 3, BLUE JAYS 2: Jose Iglesias hit a tiebreakin­g sacrifice fly in the 10th, and Detroit beat host Toronto for its second straight win following an 11-game skid.

REDS 5, WHITE SOX 3: Alex Blandino’s double in the eighth inning completed host Cincinnati’s four-run rally for a comeback victory over Chicago.

BREWERS 6, TWINS 5: Brad Miller drew a bases-loaded walk with one out in the 10th inning, and Milwaukee rallied past visiting Minnesota.
