James Beard Awardwinning chef Justin Yu’s Theodore Rex, 1302 Nance near downtown Houston, was one of only 18 restaurants to make Eater’s annual list of the Best New Restaurants in America. T. Rex, wrote the website’s national critic Bill Addison, “showcases Yu cooking at the exact same level of exuberance and ingenuity” as its previous incarnation as Oxheart. Carnitas Lonja in San Antonio and Suerte in Austin also made the cut.
