JAMES THOMAS ULMER

James Ulmer, 95, of Houston passed away peacefully on October 14, 2018. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas but moved with his family to Houston in 1934 and has been a Houstonian for 84 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Virginia Ulmer and his son, James Ulmer, Jr.

James worked his entire career with Dresser Industries and developed lifelong friendship­s with his co-workers. In his retirement, James enjoyed many long trips with his family in their RV, traveling frequently to visit family across Texas and exploring the Pacific Northwest and west coast. James and Virginia also enjoyed many years at their home in Estes Park, Colorado and James loved driving his tour bus for visitors to the Rocky Mountain National Park in the summers.

James is survived by his two daughters, Katherine Ulmer Sanders and Laura Ulmer Moore, both of Houston.

James is also survived by son-in-law, Don Sanders of Houston and daughter in-law Wanda Farrell Ulmer of Plano, TX

Grandchild­ren, Bret Sanders and wife Laurie; Susan Sanders; Brad Sanders and wife Margie; Laura Sanders; Ashley Batistick and husband Michael; Mallory Fernandez and husband Diego; Kimberly Lawrence and husband Albert; Kelly Hanson and husband Jason; and Kevin Ulmer

Great-Grand Children, Sanders Keller, Sela Sanders, Nolan Sanders, Quincy Sanders, Abbie Hanson, Mia Batistick, Christophe­r Collmer and Chelsea Collmer.

The Family cordially invites family and friends to attend a celebratio­n of James’ life at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, TX 77005 on November 14th at noon.
