GEORGE RUFUS MINER III, known to his friends as Buddy, of Houston, Texas, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at his home in Sealy, Texas. He was 66 years old.

George was born July 2, 1951, in Houston, Texas, the son of George Rufus II and Elaine (Dederick) Miner. He grew up and attended schools in the Houston area, graduating from Bellaire High School in 1969. He was employed in the constructi­on industry as a heavy equipment operator.

George enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, chess, and the jumble, reading and the Astros. He was a people person; loved telling stories, writing poetry, coaching Little League, and being a father.

George is survived by his sons: George Miner IV and his wife, Lan-Thach Kratzke, of Austin, Warren Andrew Miner and his wife, Christy, of Katy, and Zachary Miner and his girlfriend, Johanna Hartmann, of Austin; grandchild­ren: Andrew, Aiden, Hadley, George V, and Millicent; siblings: Diane Miner of Houston, Thad Miner of Houston, Richard Miner and his wife, Connie, of Yoakum, John Miner and his wife, Katy, of Houston and Margaret Miller and her husband, Arthur, of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Rufus II and Elaine Miner.

A memorial service will be held at the Sealy home on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:30AM.
