Westbrook sprains ankle in OKC win
OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City won its fifth consecutive game by beating New Orleans 122-116 on Monday night, but the Thunder lost star point guard Russell Westbrook with a sprained left ankle.
After coming down hard on the side of his foot, Westbrook pounded the ground in frustration before limping off the court. Oklahoma City led 84-77 when he left the game with 4:25 left in the third.
Paul George led the Thunder with 23 points, and Westbrook had 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Julius Randle scored 28 points for New Orleans.
NUGGETS 115, CELTICS 107
Jamal Murray scored a career-high 48 points, including 19 in the fourth quarter, and Denver overcame a sluggish start to beat visiting Boston.
At 9-1, the Nuggets are off to their best start since 1976-77. They are 6-0 at home.
RAPTORS 124, JAZZ 111
Kyle Lowry had 17 points and 11 assists to lead four Toronto players with 17 points in a victory over Utah at Salt Lake City.
Serge Ibaka, OG Anunoby and Fred VanVleet also had 17 points as the Raptors won their fourth consecutive game.
Alec Burks led Utah with 22 points.
BULLS 116, KNICKS 115
Zach LaVine scored a career-high 41 points, including the game-winning free throw with 0.2 seconds left, as Chicago won in double overtime at New York.
Enes Kanter led the Knicks with 23 points and 24 rebounds.
MAGIC 102, CAVALIERS 100
Evan Fournier hit a 22-foot jumper at the final buzzer as Orlando erased a five-point deficit in the last 24 seconds to beat visiting Cleveland, which earlier in the day restructured Larry Drew’s contract and signed him to be their coach for the remainder of this season.
Drew and his agent had been negotiating since the Cavaliers' top assistant asked for security and guarantees if he was going to become the rebuilding team's interim coach and replace Tyronn Lue, who was fired on Oct. 28 after a 0-6 start. Drew wanted a pay raise to finish out the season and got one.
Drew's new deal includes a team option for the 2019-20 season. If the Cavs, who are 1-9, choose not to retain him, Drew will receive a buyout payment.
HEAT 120, PISTONS 115
Josh Richardson scored 27 points to lead visiting Miami past Detroit in overtime. Richardson hit four free throws in the final 2.1 seconds to clinch it, ending the Heat’s three-game skid. The Pistons now have lost five in a row.
