Frances Sawyer passed away on November 29th. Frances was born on December 27, 1932 in Shreveport, LA to Roderick and Faye Morgan. Graduated from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA in 1954 where she played drums in the marching band. After graduation, taught high school for three years.

Married John M. Sawyer in 1956 and moved to Houston where she became the proud mother of two children. In 1971, renewed her teaching career at a business college and then retired in 1989 and began traveling the world.

Longtime member of Memorial Church of Christ where she was actively involved. Member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Connie Marie Morgan. Survived by her husband of 62 years, John, daughter, Sandra Hughes (Greg) and son, Steve Sawyer (Laurie). She is also survived by five grandchild­ren, Michael, Morgan (Amy), and Marshall Hughes, Scott Sawyer (Abigail), Claire Jeffers (Trey) and three great grandsons, Turner, Walker and Campbell Hughes.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r and great grandmothe­r who loved and cherished her family and they adored her.

Memorial service to be held Tuesday, December 4th at 11 am at Memorial Church of Christ, 900 Echo Lane, Houston, TX 77024.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to the Memorial Church of Christ building fund.
