DELTA GOODSIDE

2018

-

Delta Miller was born in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Thelma and H. D. Miller. She passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, in Montgomery Texas.

Delta was the first of five, and it was a large, noisy family in a home that was always filled with love. They were raised in small towns so when Delta graduated from high school with excellent secretarial skills, she set out to find her place in the business world in Oklahoma City. She married, had a son, Kent Allen Welden, and two years later, a daughter, Kellie Ann Welden. The young family moved to Dallas, Texas, and again, those secretarial skills were put to use. She was employed by attorneys, spent years in the oil and gas industry, and also worked in accounting and banking. Ultimately, she found her niche in the title insurance business (commercial) where she thrived.

Delta met Bob Goodside in late 1978 and, unknown to either, found her soulmate. They worked closely together, became best friends, fell in love, and on June 8, 1986, they married, each knowing they had found the love of their life.

They moved to Houston in 1997 and started another adventure when the first grandchild was born in 1998 and a second in 2003. Their goal became creating memories and they loved doing just that. When Bob retired they moved to a golf course community and spent their retirement years spoiling grandkids, playing golf, traveling to as many countries as possible, drinking good wine, eating good food and enjoying life.

In 2004 Delta had her first battle with cancer and again in 2008. She overcame it twice but it returned in 2015 and this one she couldn’t win.

Delta was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers, Jerry and Ron Miller. She is survived by her soulmate, Bob Goodside of Montgomery, Texas; her son, Kent Welden of Plano, Texas; her daughter, Kellie Welden of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Chelsea Welden of Waxahachie, Texas; grandson, Daniel Welden of Plano, Texas; and her sister, Sue Godwin (Darryl) of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma; brother, Arlin Miller (Kay) of Jackson, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 3, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. A celebration of Delta’s life will take place in Forest Park’s chapel on December 4, at 11:00 a.m. An interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas.

Memorial contributions in Delta’s name may be directed to The Center 3550 West Dallas St. Houston, Texas 77019. (www.thecenterhouston.org)
