Bluejack National resort beckons upscale full-time residents
More buyers looking at location for their primary homes
Bluejack National is seeing a shift in buyers as the extension of Texas 249 toward College Station eases access to the resort destination 50 miles northwest of downtown Houston.
The 755-acre community and club off FM 1486 Road in Montgomery has traditionally drawn second-home buyers looking for a retreat close to Houston that feels much farther away with its rolling terrain and luxe lifestyle amenities.
It’s home to the nation’s only Tiger Woods-designed golf course, and this year the resort added The Fort, a place for crafts, pickleball, bowling, baseball, football, canoeing, shuffleboard, eating and drinking, and swimming. There’s also a lighted short course for nighttime golf. The atmosphere is laid-back, so golfing while barefoot is perfectly acceptable.
Since opening in late 2015, Bluejack National has sold or put under contract 140 residential units and lots. Buyers have come from Houston as well as other parts of Texas and the country, from the Carolinas to California.
Now, primary homebuyers are increasingly purchasing custom home sites as Bluejack National stands to benefit from commercial growth along Texas 249, a spokesperson said. The region has also experienced growth in grocers and other retailers along FM 1488 to the south.
Prices at Bluejack National range from the mid-$200,000s for estate lots for custom homes, $700,000 to $1 million for Cottages, and $1.2 million and up for Sunday Homes on the golf course near the amenity center. The Member Suites, which are similar to oversized hotel suites, sold out.
Membership, which will cost $95,000 for initiation fees next year, has grown to more than 200. The all-inclusive monthly dues range from $800 to $1,000.
Next up, The Porch will break ground, adding a clubhouse that will host culinary events and gatherings to the amenities. A spa and tennis and fitness facilities are also under construction.
