Women are disrupting innovation

The GHWCC is breaking stereotypes and disrupting innovation in Houston with programs like GHWCC LAUNCH and powering Golden Seeds.

-

Golden Seeds is a discerning group of investors, seeking and funding high-potential, womenled businesses. Since 2005, Golden Seeds’ members — today over 275 strong — along with its venture funds, have invested over $100 million in nearly 150 exciting women-led enterprises. Golden Seeds is proud to partner with the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce in launching its new Houston chapter. It has connected with the GHWCC, which now hosts Golden Seeds’ monthly office hours (first Tuesday 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.) in Houston and helps us make valuable local connections.

“Golden Seeds has been watching Houston’s business climate for a while and strongly felt it was time to take things to the next level. We are confident it offers attractive conditions for women entrepreneurs and angel investors, and statistics and initiatives back that up.” Loretta McCarthy, Managing Partner, Golden Seeds.

“We believe that the numbers speak for themselves in terms of the success of female founded and led companies — and overall, we believe diverse teams are stronger and more likely to go the distance. Over the last 3½ years and seven classes of healthcare startups coming through our TMCx accelerator program, approximately 30% of the companies we have selected and worked with have been female founded and/or led.

While it is too small a sample size and too soon to make conclusions about relative success rates every indication is that our attention at the TMC Innovation Institute to diversity and inclusion is well founded,” said Erik Halvorsen, Director, TMC Innovation Institute.
