TODAY’S BOWLS
Military
Who: Cincinnati (10-2) vs. Virginia Tech (6-6).
When/where: 11 a.m.; Annapolis, Md. TV: ESPN.
Notable: Having already won six more games than in 2017, the Bearcats seek the third 11-win season in the 131-year history of the program and look to even their bowl record at 9-9. The Hokies are vying for their third consecutive victory to complete its 26th consecutive winning season.
Sun
Who: Pittsburgh (7-6) vs. Stanford (8-4).
When/where: 1 p.m.; El Paso.
TV: CBS.
Notable: The Cardinal have won three in a row and are trying to finish the season on a solid winning streak with a Sun Bowl victory for the second time in three seasons under coach David Shaw. They beat North Carolina 25-23 in the 2016 Sun Bowl for a sixth consecutive win and 10-3 finish. The Panthers are trying to bounce back from a 42-10 loss to playoff qualifier Clemson in the ACC title game.
Red Box
Who: Michigan State (7-5) vs. Oregon (8-4). When/where: 2 p.m.; Santa Clara, Calif. TV: Fox.
Notable: Both teams were ranked in the top 15 of the Associated Press Top 25 earlier this season and had much higher aspirations than this bowl. But ending the season with a victory over an opponent with pedigree would provide a silver lining to an otherwise disappointing campaign.
Liberty
Who: Missouri (8-4) vs. Oklahoma State (6-6).
When/where: 2:45 p.m.; Memphis, Tenn. TV: ESPN.
Notable: The No. 23 Tigers are seeking to finish a season in the Top 25 for the first time since 2014, while the Cowboys are attempting to win a bowl game for the third consecutive year and avoid their first losing season since 2005.
Holiday
Who: Northwestern (8-5) vs. Utah (9-4). When/where: 6 p.m.; San Diego. TV: FS1.
Notable: The Utes are looking for their 15th victory in their last 16 bowl games dating to the 1999 Las Vegas Bowl. They are 11-1 in bowl games under coach Kyle Whittingham, who played in the first four Holiday Bowls for BYU. The Wildcats are trying to extend a school-best three-game bowl winning streak.
