Susan Kay Cernosek, 61, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019. She was born February 11, 1957 at Heights Hospital to parents, Leon & Betty Warnke Smith.

Susan grew up in Lazybrook. She attended Sinclair Elementary, St. Theresa Catholic School, Hamilton Middle School, and graduated from Waltrip High School in 1975. Over the years she worked at Foley’s, Handy Andy, Dr. Smith’s, Cameron Iron Works, Elegance in Bloom, Flowers & Frills, Twins Design, and finally The Accessory Place. She loved working with beautiful flowers every day. Susan’s favorite pastimes were going to dances, movies, working in her yard, and taking pictures. She enjoyed being on Facebook and watching her favorite soap opera, Days of Our Lives, which she had watched since she was a child.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Wilbert Cernosek, who she met while in high school at the Bill Mraz Ballroom. She is the proud mother of Melissa Ann Dobson (Neil Dobson), and Allen Bradley Cernosek. Susan is the blessed grandmothe­r of Lucas John Cernosek. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Smith; brother, Terry Smith; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held in Houston, TX on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 5-8 PM at Heights Funeral Home, with the Rosary being recited at 7 PM. Visitation will be held in Ammannsvil­le, TX on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 9 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rosary being recited by the KJZT Society at 9:30 AM. The funeral service will follow at 10 AM. Interment will be held immediatel­y after at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
