-

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Luka Garza scored 19 points, and Joe Wieskamp added 16 as Iowa stunned No. 5 Michigan 74-59 on Friday night, handing the Wolverines their second loss of the season.

Ryan Kriener had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (17-5, 6-5 Big Ten), who snapped a two-game losing streak with their biggest victory of the season.

Iowa blistered Michigan’s top-notch defense and put the Wolverines in their biggest hole of the season — 14 points — late in the first half. The Hawkeyes used a 21-2 run to grab a 42-29 lead at the break.

The Wolverines (20-2, 9-2) clawed back to within 54-49, but a 3-pointer by Garza and a threepoint play from Wieskamp helped push Iowa’s lead back to 67-51 with 5:18 left.

Ignas Brazdeikis and Jordan Poole each scored 16 points for Michigan.

BOWLING GREEN 92, BUFFALO 88

Dylan Frye scored 25 points, and the Falcons rallied in the second half to beat the 18thranked Bulls at Bowling Green, Ohio.

Buffalo star CJ Massinburg had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but his 3-pointer from near the top of the key missed. The Bulls (19-3, 7-2) lost for the second time in four games.

Justin Turner added 22 points for Bowling Green (15-6, 7-1 Mid-American Conference.

WISCONSIN 69, MARYLAND 61

Brad Davison scored 21 points, and Ethan Happ added 18 as the No. 24 Badgers beat the 21stranked Terrapins at Madison, Wis.

Davison finished with four 3-pointers for Wisconsin (16-6, 8-3).

DE SOUSA RULED INELIGIBLE

The NCAA declared Kansas forward Silvio De Sousa ineligible for the rest of this season and next season, dealing a significant blow to a team that began the season with national title hopes.

De Sousa’s name surfaced last summer in an FBI probe into corruption in college basketball centered on officials linked to apparel company Adidas. The NCAA found that Fenny Falmagne, De Sousa’s guardian, had received a $2,500 payment from a “university booster and agent” and agreed to an additional $20,000 payment from the same individual and an Adidas employee for securing his commitment to Kansas.

The school, which has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the case, indicated in a statement that it would appeal the ruling. Falmagne has denied receiving any payments.

The 6-9 De Sousa hasn’t played for the No. 11 Jayhawks (16-5, 5-3 Big 12) this season.

Kansas’ argument hinges on the fact that any payments made to Falmagne were done without the player’s knowledge and that De Sousa should have been given leniency in any punishments. In its ruling, the NCAA made it clear that ignorance is no defense.

OREGON 87, UTAH 65

Satou Sabally scored 20 points, and the fourth-ranked Ducks closed out the No. 14 Utes with a 27-6 run at Eugene, Ore.

Ruthy Hebard and Maite Cazorla had 16 points apiece as all five starters scored in double figures for Oregon (20-1, 9-0 Pac-12.
