Regarding “Dems walk line on Medicare for all” (Nation, Feb. 3): Republicans are again rushing in to rebrand the Democratic Party as socialist. Yes, 40 new representatives were swept into office in the November blue wave, many elected on platforms of universal health care and social justice.
The big tent party welcomes progressive activists to join a bedrock of responsible officeholders who cling to honored traditions of trust in our security agencies, responsibility, as voiced by Houston’s Rep. Lizzie Pannill Fletcher: “We don’t want ideologues in charge.” H. Clay Moore, Houston
