-

A man was shot to death Monday near an apartment complex near Acres Homes.

The man was apparently working on a vehicle in the 7200 block of T.C. Jester, north of West Little York, when another man, wearing a red shirt or hoodie, came up to him and shot him about 9 a.m., Houston police said.

The gunman was a passenger in a silver or gray Toyota Camry that was found abandoned about 5 miles away, in the 3900 block of Creekmont.

The Camry was reported stolen in Spring and police said the shooting might be related to a a burglary reported downtown.

Houston police were called to the 7200 block of T.C. Jester, north of West Little York, around 9 a.m. Just as they drove up, they saw a silver or gray Toyota Camry leave and then saw on the side of the road a man who appeared to be dead of a gunshot wound, said HPD sergeant Anthony Turner.

The incident is linked to a report of a stolen vehicle in Spring and possibly to a burglary reported downtown, Turner said, but offered no further information.
