Home and garden show to feature expert advice, demonstrations
Lori Verderame will be back in the Houston area this weekend for her popular Dr. Lori’s Appraisal Comedy Show at the 12th annual Cy-Fair Home and Garden Show at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress.
Verderame, who you’ve likely seen on the History channel, Discovery Channel or Fox Business Network, will assess the value of your personal treasures and give you a little bit of history about them that you may not already know. Her shows will be at noon and 2 p.m. each day.
The annual home show brings in more than 200 vendors but also offers a lineup of free advice from speakers on gardening, home remodeling and home design topics. Show hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sunday.
I’ll be one of the speakers, staffing a booth from 1-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the convention center to offer free interior design advice. I did this at a recent home show in Sugar Land and had a steady stream of people looking for advice as they’ve downsized or moved into a new or new-to-them home. Bring room measurements and/ or photos and I’ll help you move forward in your home projects.
Tom Tynan will broadcast his “Home-Show Radio” program on home improvement from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday at the home show. He’ll also be on hand until 2 p.m. to answer other questions.
Popular KTRH “Garden-Line” host Randy Lemmon and Harris County extension agent Robert “Skip” Richter will answer gardening questions. Also giving presentations will be certified professional organizer Tammy Atchison, registered engineer Larry Deavers and others on topics including cabinetry, solar energy, color consulting and selecting shutters and blinds. On Sunday, you can learn to make your own floral arrangements in a workshop conducted by Ashley Wallace of The Tallest Tulip.
