Botched raid
I want to thank the Houston Chronicle for its continuing coverage of the evolving facts and circumstances surrounding the Jan. 28 undercover police raid on the reported Harding street drug house. This was the raid that resulted in the unfortunate death of the two elderly residents and five officers injured — four by gunfire.
Certainly most Houstonians, as do I, support local law enforcement. However, I think we also expect law enforcement to act in a responsible, accountable and transparent manner. Fortunately, the Chronicle’s continuing coverage has disclosed much information regarding the raid. However, some of the information later disclosed does not conform to the original information provided about the raid.
From the information disclosed in the “No body cams used in deadly bust” (City/State, Feb. 13): it appears the Houston Police Department has no definitive policy on how these dangerous raids are performed. Don Sumners, Houston
