After a few years in medical sales, Jadwiga Pyzdrowski was ready to shake things up in her career. She wanted to follow a path that had already been laid out by members of her family.

“I was ready for something new. I knew the natural gas industry had a lot of opportunities,” said Pyzdrowski. “My father was in the industry for 30 years, and my brother is in the industry. Since I grew up around natural gas compression, I had an idea of what a compressor was, so I figured that would be a good start for me.”

Pyzdrowski did a bit of digging around in the gas compression industry before landing on a company that had the best training program for someone who was ready to champion a new career path. That company was Archrock.

Archrock is the leading contract compression services company in the U.S. Not only are they of the best provider of natural gas compression services in the industry, but their company culture is incredibly accepting of women. While women make up just a small percentage of the compression industry’s total workforce, Archrock has made it their mission to actively recruit more females, at all levels and disciplines at the company. This commitment starts at the top with Archrock’s two female board members and two female executive team leaders, Stephanie C. Hildebrandt, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary; and Sharon Paul, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Pyzdrowski was incredibly excited to join the team, and dove into the Archrock training program, which was designed to provide accelerated development. She took basic training classes, learning about the company and what services they provided.

“We are proud of Jadwiga’s accomplishments,” said Paul. “Her achievements and growth are what we hope to see for all our employees. We strategically aim to give our employees the chance to grow and prosper while at Archrock. She has exemplified what someone can do by utilizing training programs and cultivating a determined work ethic. She serves as a great role model of what women can do in the field.”

Then, she worked in a compression services shop for a few months to understand their processes. After that, she went into the field and learned about how service technicians manage their assigned Archrock compression equipment and their valued customer relationships. After wrapping up her training in Archrock’s Houston-based headquarters working in the applications group, selecting the right equipment to deploy to meet each customers’ unique compression needs, it was time for Pyzdrowski to choose where she wanted to land.

“I chose to go into operations. I liked the challenges it posed, as well as the interaction with both our equipment and our customers’ representatives,” Pyzdrowski said. Now, Pyzdrowski is excelling in her role as the first female Service Manager at Archrock. She’s thriving in of the world’s most productive oil fields and relishes being part of the top compression services team and company. “The most gratifying part is helping one of my team members succeed or achieve something they’re working for. As a team, we have goals and reaching those goals with them has been very rewarding,” she said.

“Jadwiga brings so much to the table,” said Brad Remley, Operations Manager, Permian. “Her ability to lead, organize, execute and communicate has manifested into a tremendous team culture devoted to serving our customers and maximizing the uptime of our compression equipment, thereby maximizing our customers’ gas flow.”

Women like Pyzdrowski are making way for even more women to come into the industry. At Archrock, there’s a significant potential for development for both men and women within the industry. Archrock employees have the support and respect of the entire organization, including their managers, who take the time to make sure every employee has the proper training and tools to do their job and do it well.

Laurie Saldivar worked in customer service for 25 years before starting with Archrock in 2013. She began her Archrock career in Operations Services and most recently worked within the Aftermarket Services group where she assisted the service managers with dayto-day activities, supported the field service technicians and interfaced closely with customers and vendors.

“During my mid-year review with my supervisor, we discussed my career development plan,” said Saldivar. “It was then I realized how I’d like to move to the next level within Archrock. I wanted to become a Service Manager.” Recently, Saldivar’s hard work was recognized and she was promoted to the position of Operations Service Manager. “My first reaction was excitement so great I could’ve literally jumped for joy. My hard work, and career planning, had paid off.”

Starting a new career can seem daunting for anyone, especially as a woman in a historically male dominated field. But Archrock recognizes and faces this challenge by supporting every employee and striving to provide an exceptional work environment, mentorship, training and much more. These tactics blaze a trail for career growth and excellence.

“There are plenty of opportunities for those who believe in themselves,” said Paul. “Out of the hundreds of women who work at Archrock, Jadwiga and Laurie are examples of the many successful contributors to our company. There is an opportunity to learn from and with these women as well as within the company itself.”

Archrock understands that type of ambition, and set up a structure within their company to help employees climb the ladder. There is no glass ceiling to smash at Archrock – they want to make sure you have support to working at your full potential.

For Shirley Buchanan, that career was in Safety. As a Senior Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator, Buchanan has finally found a company that she is passionate about.

“I’ve been in the business for over 25 years. I decided to come work for Archrock because I had heard a lot of good things about their safety culture, including their Target Zero™ program” Buchanan said. “They invest in their employees’ safety training. That’s not something you always see in this industry. Archrock walks the walk, and talks the talk when it comes to safety. That’s one of the many reasons I really love coming to work every day.”

At Archrock, you’ll find highly-skilled employees who have been trained and mentored throughout their career – no matter what department or stage of their career they may be in. And while they pride themselves on helping power America, the true power behind Archrock lies in their people, employees like Jadwiga Pyzdrowski and Shirley Buchanan. Women who join the Archrock team are having fun and breaking new ground in the industry – and you can too.

With so many opportunities in different departments across the country, it may be time to consider Archrock for your next career move. Go to www.archrock.com/careers for more information.
