Hydraulic fracturing planned inside DFW Metroplex

Fort Worth oil company TEP Barnett USA plans to go horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing inside two neighborin­g cities.

The company is seeking permission from the Railroad Commission of Texas to obtain drilling permits for three projects inside Arlington and Grand Prairie city limits. Using an already-existing drilling pad off State Highway 360 and East Pioneer Parkway in East Arlington, the company plans to target the Newark East field of the Barnett Shale geological layer to a depth of 9,000 feet.

Surrounded by homes, fast food restaurant­s, a trucking center, a credit union and a day care, TEP Barnett USA has previously used the pad to drill four wells within Arlington city limits.

Permian Basin

Houston oil company Independen­ce Resources Management is going grunge for its first new wells in 2019. The company obtained drilling permits for six new horizontal wells on its Pearl Jam lease in Midland. Located off FM 1788 about 11 east of Midland, the wells target the Spraberry field to a depth of 11,000 feet.

Eagle Ford Shale

Sanchez Energy is planning to drill three oil wells in a remote area of Webb County. The Houston company received drilling permits for horizontal wells on its Briscoe Chupadera Ranch lease off FM 1472 and Chupadera Ranch Road. The wells target the Briscoe Ranch field of the Eagle Ford geological layer to a depth of 7,000 feet.

Haynesvill­e Shale

Tyler oil company Tanos Exploratio­n is preparing to drill two horizontal wells in East Texas. The company is seeking permission to drill an oil well targeting the Carthage field of the Cotton Valley geological layer on a lease in Panola County to a depth of 9,622 feet. A gas well in neighborin­g Harrison County targets the Carthage field of the Haynesvill­e Shale down to a depth of 11,280 feet.

Barnett Shale

Houston oil company Lime Rock Resources is getting ready to drill on leases it bought from ConocoPhil­lips subsidiary Burlington Resources last year. Lime Rock is seeking permission to drill two horizontal wells on its Rock Ranch McDougal Unit lease in Wise County. The gas wells target the Newark East field of the Barnett Shale geological layer to a depth of 8,500 feet.

Convention­als

Sunoco Pipeline is preparing to drill five vertical wells that will be used to install equipment to prevent corrosion of pipelines in West Central Texas. The company filed for drilling permits to develop five cathodic protection wells to support crude oil pipeline projects in Brown, Callahan, Runnels, Stephens and Taylor counties.
