Long Island blanks Skeeters

Sugar Land was held to six hits in a 2-0 Atlantic League loss to Long Island at Central Islip, N.Y.

Ducks starter Darin Downs limited the Skeeters to five hits in seven innings while striking out nine and walking two. George Kontos pitched the last two innings and earned the win after Long Island scored both of its runs in the eighth on homers by David Washington and Rey Fuentes.

Anthony Giansanti had two hits for Sugar Land.
