Weighing in on MD Anderson
Nothing is perfect
Regarding “MD Anderson under federal investigation” (Chron.com, Tuesday): (MD Anderson) saved my life back in the early 1970s. Live each day to the fullest and am completely grateful. Nothing in life is perfect. But wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Dad treated well
They took such great care of my dad while he battled pancreatic cancer. From his oncologist to the ER staff and the attending doctors. Absolutely wonderful care.

I’m still standing
I walked through their doors with Stage 4 breast cancer. Six-and-a-half years later I’m still enjoying life and watching my grandchildren become adults. Yay to MD Anderson!

I saw care lacking
(I) worked there for 14 years and thought it was the most amazing place for cancer patients to be. That was until my dad got cancer and was given a terminal diagnosis. All we were looking for was treatment for quality of life for him, and they wouldn’t take him.
Don’t get me wrong: They have some amazing doctors (I worked for five of them), but there are so many horrible doctors and staff there that do not provide the care that a hospital of this capacity should, and it’s very disappointing.

Just a number
You are just a medical record number and a paycheck in my experience with a breast cancer scare. I wouldn’t wish the experience I had on anyone. No compassion or empathy, and they didn’t even care about what my name was ... just the medical record number and my ability to pay what I would owe on my deductible.

Forever thankful
They were amazing with my mother, who went there by ambulance. They treated her like a human and not a number. Even in the intensive care unit as she was dying, they took the best care of her.
I’ll forever be thankful for all they did to make her last two weeks the best they could.
