Space Center Houston is open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. every day except Thanksgivi­ng and Christmas. Hours are extended during peak holiday seasons. Admission is $29.95 for adults, $24.95 for children, $27.95 for seniors and member of the military. Admission includes a tram tour into the adjoining Johnson Space Center.

APOLLO 11 ANNIVERSAR­Y EVENTS

The museum is offering more than a week of special events and festivitie­s to commemorat­e the 50th anniversar­y of the moon landing. A luncheon with former NASA flight director Gene Kranz is sold out. • Lunch with an Apollo flight controller: Participan­ts will be provided a catered lunch and hear recollecti­ons from the control room on Tuesday.

• Lunch with children of

the Apollo era: Adult children of astronauts Jim Lovell and the late Gene Cernan and Alan Bean will discuss family life and growing up amid the space race with moderator Gwen Griffin, whose father was an Apollo flight director, on July 18. • Free screening of PBS documentar­y “Armstrong”: The feature-length film covers the life of Neil Armstrong from his boyhood in Ohio to his first steps on the moon and includes

home movies and unseen NASA footage on July 18.

• Dinner and presentati­on by former NASA Flight

Director Gene Kranz: The legendary former flight director, portrayed by Ed Harris in the movie “Apollo 13,” will talk about the creation of the Apollo Mission Control Center and share highlights from the control room during the Apollo 11 Moon landing on July 18. • Apollo 11 50th Live at Space Center Houston: Celebratio­ns for the 50th anniversar­y of the July 20, 1969, lunar landing will include speakers, book signings, a STEM zone, an outdoor festival and concert,

tram tours and a countdown to Armstrong’s first steps on the moon at 9:56 p.m. Houston time on July 20. • Apollo 11 Mission Splashdown Party: A 1960s-themed gala will offer food and live music from the Apollo era along as well as activities and exhibits, to celebrate the splashdown of Apollo 11 in 1969, on July 24.
