Angels (48-46) update: After starting the second half with a threegame home sweep of Seattle, including a combined no-hitter by Taylor Cole and Felix Pena on Friday in their first home game since the death of pitcher Tyler Skaggs, the Angels stand five games out of the second wild card. … Perennial MVP candidate Mike Trout has been on a tear of late but left Sunday’s game before the third inning due to right calf tightness, but manager Brad Ausmus said there is no longterm concern. In his last eight games, Trout has eight home runs and 18 RBIs, and he leads the AL with 30 home runs, 75 RBIs and an OPS of 1.121. … Catcher Jonathan Lucroy is expected to be out for about three weeks after he has surgery Tuesday on the fourth broken nose of his career. Lucroy also incurred his third diagnosed concussion in a collision with the Astros’ Jake Marisnick before the All-Star break. … In 160 career MLB games as a hitter, Shohei Ohtani has a .291/.358/.561 slash line with 36 home runs, 30 doubles and 100 RBIs.
