LaOuida Sullivan, 87, our beloved MeMe, passed away August 5, 2019. Ouida was born in Duke, Oklahoma on October 29, 1931 to Lora and Jesse Roberson. She was raised on their rural farm where she had many chores like tending to the animals, driving the tractor at a young age and picking cotton.

Ouida meet the love of her life, Joe Sullivan from Mangum, Oklahoma, during High School. Joe joined the Navy after graduation and Ouida accepted a job in Amarillo. They headed out to West Virginia for Joe to start college, but soon afterwards transferred to the University of Houston. Texas has been their home since 1956.

Ouida was not only a wonderful wife, but she was also the best Mom in the world to her four children. She was busy keeping up with all their activities as a Girl Scout leader plus a school and church volunteer. She was constantly preparing for our next camping trip or weekend at the Farm in Moulton. When she became an empty nester she enjoyed teaching at Mother’s Day Out at Chapelwood and Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. Ouida also helped at the Center for Professional Advancement.

In the more recent years, Ouida, thoroughly enjoyed her time with her friends at Mission Stitchers, Common Thread and The Gathering Places.

Ouida’s best claim to fame was her delicious chocolate chip cookies. There was not a special occasion or hunting trip that was not blessed with her cookies. They were the BEST and she and the Green Tupperware container were famous.
