Wit and Humor: American Political Cartoons: The Bush Library and Museum announced the opening of ‘Wit and Humor: American Political Cartoons’ on display in the Ansary Gallery of American History. This exhibit highlights original artworks, including collection­s from the Library of Congress, Bush Library and Museum, Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, and more. It shows how cartoons have changed since the early days of the Republic. Featuring artifacts, videos, and interactiv­e kiosks, this exhibit highlights important cartoons from artists regarded as giants in their field, like Thomas Nast, Bill Mauldin, Herbert Block, and Patrick Oliphant. Willow Waterhole Bird Survey: It was started in June 2007 and is held on the third Saturday of each month. This survey coincides with Houston Bird Week and is welcoming experience­d birders to newbies alike to participat­e. During the twohour count, the number of species identified can range from around 30 in summer to 50-plus in the winter. The survey begins in the parking lot of the Gathering Place at 5310 South Willow Drive at 7 a.m. Participan­ts split up into three or four groups to cover the park, and as of mid-2015, nearly 200 species had been reported at this site. 7-9:30 a.m. at Willow Waterhole Greenspace, 5201 S.
