JARIPEO SIN FRONTERAS ISN’T PEPE AGUILAR’S FIRST RODEO

Jaripeo Sin Fronteras, the multitiered event that combines Mexican music, horses, bullfighting and dancing, translates roughly to “Rodeo Without Borders.” It’s a showcase for the Aguilar family — father Pepe, his teenage children Angela and Leonardo, older brother Antonio Jr. — that combines traditional Mexican culture with modern concert elements.
So this isn’t exactly your grandpa’s rodeo. But it sort of is, too.
Pepe Aguilar refers to it as a “ranchero circus.” The show, which also features singer Paquita la del Barrio, kicks up some dirt (literally) Friday at Toyota Center. The Aguilar family will be accompanied by more than 30 musicians onstage, and ride several of their own Andalusian horses. The entire crew includes more than 100 people.

“It’s not only about music. It’s not only about tradition. It’s also about skill, about professionalism, about danger, about showmanship, about being competitive in this competitive world.”
To that end, Pepe Aguilar feels confident that Jaripeo Sin Fronteras, now in its second year, has found its place among high-energy shows from such stars as J Balvin and Bad Bunny while still offering concertgoers something that’s appropriate for all ages. The tour runs through December with a final series of shows in Mexico.
