Boys

L.J. Johnson, Cy-Fair

Notable: Johnson rushed for 299 yards and five scores on 14 carries in the first half of a 41-3 win over Jersey Village. In the last two weeks, he’s totaled 544 yards rushing and nine touchdowns.

What coach Ed Pustejovsk­y said: “He played extremely well, had some creases, he didn’t hesitate. He stuck his foot down and he went.”

Other nominees

Rufus Scott, Willow- ridge: Scott accounted for seven touchdowns, completing 10 of 16 passes for 193 yards and four scores. He added 89 yards and three more TDs on 10 carries in a 74-49 victory against Northside.

Casey Shorter, Katy

Taylor: Shorter ran for 373 yards and six touchdowns in a 57-6 rout of Cinco Ranch as the Mustangs improved to 5-2.

Alvin Williams II, Elkins: Williams had 18 tackles, including seven solo, 1½ for loss and a fumble recovery in a 38-7 win over Kempner.

Girls

Tori Weatherley, Friendswoo­d

Notable: The senior setter tallied 100 assists for the week for 12.5 per set, including 61 in a win over Santa Fe as Friendswoo­d went to 9-0 in district play.

What coach Sarah Paulk said: “Tori had an injury early on in the season and has really helped take our team to the next level since her return. She’s done a great job spreading our offense out and being a leader on the court throughout district.”

Ally Batenhorst, Seven Lakes: Batenhorst recorded 32 kills with 17 digs in a four-set win over Tompkins.

Anh Ho, Bellaire: The sophomore’s 19-minute, 41-second time over 5,000 meters won the District 18-6A cross country championsh­ip by five seconds. Alessandra Meoni, Friendswoo­d: She collected 32 kills last week, including 19 in a win over Santa Fe.
