Running back Hyde says it feels good to be counted on.

Carlos Hyde has grown accustomed to sudden change after being traded twice and playing for four different NFL teams over the past year.

Emerging as the Texans’ primary running back is significant to Hyde, who was acquired via a trade from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for offensive lineman Martinas Rankin.

He’s on pace to have the best season of his career having rushed for 704 yards and three touchdowns with seven games remaining in the season.

Hyde is averaging a career-high 4.7 yards per carry one year after being traded from Cleveland to Jacksonville.

Hyde, a former San Francisco 49ers secondround pick, rushed for a season-high 160 yards in a win over the Jaguars, breaking runs of 58 and 48 yards.

“Just everybody believing in me and giving me a chance to do what I do best,” said Hyde, who credited his offensive line, running backs coach Danny Barrett, coach Bill O’Brien and offensive coordinator Tim Kelly. “It feels good. It’s been a minute. I’ve been like bouncing from team to team. I didn’t feel that type of love, but it feels good to feel that and have guys count on you and deliver for them.”

Texans react to Garrett incident

In the wake of a wild brawl between the Browns and Steelers, including former Texas A&M star

Myles Garrett striking Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph on the head with a helmet, how players handle their temper is a hot-button issue around the league.

Garrett was suspended for at least the remainder of the season and postseason.

“We do our best to talk to our players about being smart, tough and dependable and playing with poise and doing the best job they can to play clean football,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Friday speaking generally about what he teaches.

The meltdown was surprising to people who know Garrett.

“He’s a great guy,” said Texans fullback Cullen

Gillaspia, who played at Texas A&M with Garrett. “He was a great teammate in college, but his actions speak for themselves.”
