LUCY J. BREMOND
Kind, collaborative, innovative, altruistic, uplifting, nurturing. These are all words that can be used to describe Lucy J. Bremond, a true servant-leader. Guided by her faith and the support of loving family and friends, she continues to do all that God planned for her life.
Lucy currently serves as the first executive director of Emancipation Park Conservancy. Under her leadership, Lucy has made great strides to transform the historic Emancipation Park into one of the nation’s premier landmark parks and destinations, enhance operational improvements, establish strategic partnerships, and create programs/events. She gained extensive experience in community engagement and non-profit management while working as an executive leader for General Electric Corporate Citizenship and later working in Strategic Partnerships at Houston ISD.
Lucy, a non-profit strategist with specific interest in long-term, big-picture projects, wears countless community volunteer hats and has extensive volunteer and service accolades that she uses to fuel collaborative change in communities. Her involvement includes:
Founder and Chairman-Blue Triangle Friends dedicated to raise funds to preserve the historic Blue Triangle Community Center that houses the beloved Dr. John Biggers’ mural, “The Contribution of Negro Women to American Life and Education” and helped to raise over $5 million to restore the building and the Biggers’ mural; Chairman-Smart Financial Credit Foundation; Founding Board MemberLemonade Day, Greater Houston Black Chamber Foundation, Community of Faith Foundation, CYCLE, Young Women’s College Prep Advisory Council, and GHWCC Foundation; Former President and Emeritus MemberIvyEACF; Life Member-Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and San Jacinto Girl Scouts; and Advisor-C-STEMS and AMindToWork CDC.
Lucy holds a BS degree in Mathematics (Southern University), Non-profit Management (Certification University of Illinois), Fort Bend Non-Profit Leadership Certificate, and has completed various Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Courses (Rice University).
Lucy is a member of New Faith Church and Leadership Houston Class XXIX. She is most proud of her success as wife of Jon for 42 years, mother of Carolanda, Jonique, Jessie and Corey, and grandmother of Addison Faye and Jessa Brooke.
