Honorary Chair WINELL HERRON

Winell serves as Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmen­tal Affairs for H-E-B. Winell has made her mark as a statewide community leader through strategic decisions related to philanthro­pic giving throughout the H-E-B footprint (Texas and Mexico).

Winell earned a bachelor’s degree in business administra­tion from the University of Texas at Austin. She later completed the Food Industry Management Program at the University of Southern California and went on to receive her Executive MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Her career at H-E-B began in Austin store operations. Since then, she has held many positions including service team leader, director of workforce diversity, vice president of customer service, and group vice president of diversity and people developmen­t. She was then promoted to her current position.

Winell and her team are very active in the community through the philanthro­pic work of H-E-B, however she is also personally involved in many non-profit organizati­ons. Winell serves on the boards of the Ensemble Theatre, March of Dimes, Texas Cultural Trust, Houston Museum of African American Culture, and the Tobin Performing Arts Center (San Antonio), as well as the Board of Visitors for MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Board of Trustees for the University of Incarnate Word (San Antonio). Additional­ly, she is a Texas Lyceum Alumnus.

Houston has recognized Winell’s profession­al and personal efforts by selecting her as a 2019 Woman of Power and Presence; presenting her with both the Houston Woman of Substance and Houston Woman on the Move awards; inducting her into the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame; naming her among the Top 25 Most Influentia­l Women in

Houston and Houston’s Women of Distinctio­n; and awarding her the Alumnus of the Year from the University of Texas San Antonio.

Winell has also served as Honorary Chair for several Houston events including the Ensemble Theatre Rhythm of the Night Gala, Houston Area Urban League Equal Opportunit­y Day Gala, American Red Cross Wrapped in Red Luncheon and the Table Talk Luncheon with the University of Houston’s Friends of Women’s Studies.

Her personal passions include family, friends, community involvemen­t, travel, technology, music and reading. Winell and her husband William (Doug), reside in Houston.
