Notable: The striker scored six goals in the season-opening Willis soccer invitational — four against Willis, one against Dickinson and another against Eisenhower. Oak Ridge won all three matches and outscored its opponents 12-3.
What coach Victor Olivares said: “I think since the first game he’s been ready to play. He wanted to compete and he was one of those players who made a difference for us.”

LJ Cryer, Morton Ranch: The Mavericks are dealing with injuries and Cryer has helped, scoring 43 points with eight assists, three rebounds and four steals in a 90-56 win over Seven Lakes.
Bryce Griggs, Hightower: The sophomore had 30 points with five assists in a 75-61 win over Fort Bend Marshall.
Jaron Jefferson, North Shore: Jefferson posted 22 points and seven rebounds in a 68-42 win over La Porte for 20-2 North Shore.
Girls
Bree Sias, Dayton
Notable: The sophomore guard scored 32 points, including an 18for-22 performance from the free-throw line, in a 61-58 win over Port Neches-Groves.
What coach Suzanne Davis said: “She was great on the drive, and they couldn’t stop her. She either scored or they fouled her. She’s just a sophomore and she’s still learning and still improving.”

Kyndall Hunter, Cypress Creek: Hunter scored 20 points in a 72-12 win over Northbrook to help Cypress Creek stay unbeaten at 25-0.
Nya Threatt, Dulles: She scored 14 points on 71 percent shooting in a 7043 district win over Fort Bend Austin.
Amber Morgan, Grand Oaks: The junior goalkeeper netted the firstyear program’s first shutout in a 4-0 win over Corpus Christi Moody.
