Paul is pick in GOP primary for HD129
Top issues include pension reform and NASA support.
Dennis Paul is proud to be the only professional engineer in the Texas House of Representatives. First elected in 2014, he has focused on bringing his experience and clear-eyed thinking to the Legislature on issues such as pension reform and support for NASA.
He is our choice in the Republican primary for District 129.
The district, which includes part of southeast Harris County, is demographically diverse and includes the Johnson Space Center. Paul, 58, understands the importance of securing Texas’ place in science and space exploration, and is the founder and chairman of the legislative aerospace caucus.
Among his accomplishments are work on the Houston Spaceport, road projects to ease congestion, support for the coastal barrier and efforts to adopt a state flood plan. Paul is pleased with the recent legislative session’s priorities, including reducing property taxes and more funding for education.
Ryan Lee, a 17-year-veteran of the Houston Fire Department and small-business owner, is challenging the incumbent. As a first-responder, he brings a unique perspective to concerns about flooding and what he detailed as public safety concerns — crime, graffiti, homelessness — which he considers some of the most important problems facing the district.
Although Lee is energetic and committed to public service, the issues that motivate him may be better served at the local, rather than state, level.
Paul has been a strong conservative voice for his constituents, working on concrete solutions to real problems. He is a good choice for Republican voters in District 129.
