No. 5 Louisville taken down by Georgia Tech in shocker

ATLANTA — Moses Wright made a huge block at one end, then powered inside for a basket that helped Georgia Tech pull off a 64-58 upset of No. 5 Louisville on Wednesday night, snapping the Cardinals’ 10-game winning streak.

Louisville (21-4, 12-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) lost for the first time since early January with a truly dreadful offensive performanc­e against the Yellow Jackets (12-13, 6-8).

The Cardinals never led, hitting just 19 of 56 shots (33.9 percent) from the field — including a 3-of-24 brickfest beyond the 3point arc.

KANSAS 58 WEST VIRGINIA 49

Devon Dotson scored 15 points, and the No. 3 Jayhawks finished the game with a 9-0 run to beat the No. 14 Mountainee­rs in Morgantown, W.Va.

Kansas (21-3, 10-1 Big 12) won for the ninth straight time and remains a game behind first-place Baylor.

West Virginia (18-6, 6-5) fell flat after leading by as many as nine points in each half and lost at home for the first time this season.

CREIGHTON 87 SETON HALL 82

Damien Jefferson, TyShon Alexander, Marcus Zegarowski and Denzel Mahoney all scored 18 points, and the No. 23 Bluejays beat the 10thranked Pirates in Newark, N.J., for their second road win over a Top 10 team this month.

Christian Bishop added 11 points as Creighton (19-6, 8-4 Big East) won for the sixth time in seven games.

Quincy McKnight had 20 points to lead Seton Hall (18-6, 10-2).

AUBURN 95, ALABAMA 91

Austin Wiley had 18 points, a career-high 17 rebounds and five blocked shots, and the No. 11 Tigers beat the rival Crimson Tide in host Auburn’s latest foray into overtime.

The Tigers (22-2, 9-2 Southeaste­rn Conference) picked up their fourth overtime win of the last five games. This time they scored the first eight points of overtime and held on for redemption from an earlier 19-point loss to Alabama (13-11, 5-6).

VILLANOVA 72 MARQUETTE 71

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and the No. 15 Wildcats held on for a victory over the No. 18 Golden Eagles at home to snap a three-game losing streak.

Collin Gillespie and Jermaine Samuels added 14 points apiece for Villanova (18-6, 8-4 Big East).

Markus Howard scored 24 points for Marquette (17-7, 7-5).

BUTLER 66, XAVIER 61

Sean McDermott scored 14 points to lead the No. 19 Bulldogs past the visiting Musketeers.

ABILENE CHRISTIAN 81 HOUSTON BAPTIST 67

Clay Gayman registered 19 points as the Wildcats defeated the Huskies in Abilene.

Benjamin Uloko had 14 points for Houston Baptist (3-19, 3-10 Southland).

SMU 79, CONNECTICU­T 75

Feron Hunt scored a career-high 23 points and was 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the last 16 seconds as the Mustangs beat the Huskies in Dallas.

Kendric Davis added 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting with six assists as SMU (17-6, 7-4 American Athletic Conference) shot 55 percent as a team (28-for-51).

Women BAYLOR 81, TCU 62

Lauren Cox had 16 points and 10 rebounds, NaLyssa Smith also had a double-double, and the No. 2 Lady Bears pulled away after halftime to defeat the Horned Frogs in Waco for their 52nd consecutiv­e Big 12 victory.

DiDi Richards had 17 points for Baylor (22-1, 11-0), which led by only two at halftime.

TCU (17-5, 8-3) shot 35 percent overall (20-of-58).

IOWA ST. 69, TEXAS 51

Charli Collier scored 17 points, but the host Longhorns shot only 27 percent from the floor on their way to losing to the Cyclones. Texas fell to 15-8 overall and 7-4 in the Big 12.

CENTRAL FLORIDA 67 HOUSTON 49

Bria Patterson scored 13 points, but her efforts were not enough to keep the Cougars from being routed by the Knights at Fertitta Center and falling to 12-13 overall and 5-6 in the American Athletic Conference.

ABILENE CHRISTIAN 71 HOUSTON BAPTIST 54

Megan Valdez-Crader scored 15 points to lead the Huskies, but Houston Baptist shot just 30.8 percent on its way to a loss in Abilene. The Huskies fell to 5-17 and 1-12 in the Southland Conference.
