Cowboys lose all-time receiving leader Witten to Raiders

-

Future Hall of Fame tight end Jason Witten reportedly agreed Tuesday to a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 37-year-old has 1,215 catches for 12,977 yards in 16 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, all franchise records. He’ll provide depth behind starter Darren Waller on the Raiders.

Witten will team up with Raiders coach Jon Gruden, the man he once replaced in the “Monday Night Football“announcing booth after retiring from the NFL at the end of the 2017 season.

Witten returned to Dallas last year and had 63 catches for 529 yards and four touchdowns.

The Cowboys lost another key player Tuesday, as 2019 team sack leader Robert Quinn agreed to a five-year, $70 million deal with the Chicago Bears.

Dallas is keeping one mainstay, however, reaching a oneyear, $4.5 million deal with 10year veteran linebacker Sean Lee.

Quarterback carousel gets into full swing

Tom Brady was hardly the only big-name quarterback in the news Tuesday.

Drew Brees agreed to a twoyear, $50 million deal to stay with the Saints, while Philip Rivers is headed to the Colts on a one-year, $25 million contract after 16 years with the Chargers.

Meanwhile, 2015 MVP Cam Newton’s days with the Panthers are numbered, with the team announcing that it has granted him permission to seek a trade. Carolina later agreed to a threeyear, $63 million deal with Teddy Bridgewater, who went 5-0 for the Saints last season while Brees was injured.

And former Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota agreed to sign with the Raiders.
