It’s crawfish season — to go

- By Emma Balter STAFF WRITER

Social distancing may prevent us Houstonians from having a real crawfish boil, but restaurants are here to help with delivery and curbside pickup.

If we were back in Normal Times (remember those?), we would probably all be outside right now, sucking out the juices of a crawfish shell and washing it all down with cold beer and scintillating conversation with our loved ones. Though social distancing prohibits gathering in crowds, it can’t take away Houstonians’ mudbug craving. Here are some local restaurants offering crawfish boils and other specialties … to-geaux.

The Montrose bistro is selling crawfish to go noon-8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Crawfish is $9 per pound; potatoes, corn and sausage can be added à la carte.

“Boil it yo’self ” specials are available for pickup at all locations. Sacks of crawfish serving 10 to 15 people cost $130 for ungraded and $155 for graded; both packages include a half-gallon of BB’s crawfish paste, a quart of BB’s crawfish seasoning and a quart of BB’s lemon blend seasoning. The restaurants are also selling preboiled crawfish: 5 pounds of ungraded for $25 and 5 pounds of graded for $35. Hours depend on the location; call 24 hours ahead to order boils.

Delivery of freshwater Lousiana crawfish is available via Favor app, 5-9 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. There’s a 1-pound option for $8.49, 5 pounds with one corn cob and two potatoes for $40.50 and 8 pounds with two cobs and four potatoes for $60.50.

A homemade crawfish étouffée with dirty rice is only $11.99 at this four-location restaurant mini-chain. This is available for pickup only, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Police officers and firefighters get 50 percent off.

No boils here, but the Louisiana crawfish étouffée is available to go and via delivery, at $24 for one person and $48 for a two-person serving. This is available 3-7 p.m. daily.

The Bellaire eatery is offering crawfish by the pound via pickup only, 3-10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, noon-10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Current market price is $7.99, and the boil comes with one of its eight signature seasonings, including Original Cajun and Thai Basil.

Crawfish boils are available for curbside and pickup only starting at noon and until sold out every Saturday. Pickup for preorders is noon-1 p.m. and 4-5 p.m. Family packs are $75 for 10 pounds of crawfish with corn and potatoes; these must be ordered before 5 p.m. the day before. A smaller pack with 2½ pounds of crawfish costs $20.

All locations are offering crawfish-boil pickup and delivery, from 1 pound of bugs for $9.99 to 5 pounds for $49.95.

This Katy joint is offering three crawfish specials: 5 pounds of crawfish with two potatoes and two corn cobs for $25, 10 pounds with three potatoes and three cobs for $45 and 15 pounds with four potatoes and four cobs for $65. This is available noon to 9 p.m. every day via curbside pickup or delivery. Crawfish étouffée is also on the menu.

The Louisianian classic is serving three crawfish boil portions, available for pickup only: 5 pounds of crawfish with two corn cobs and two potatoes for $32, 8 pounds with four cobs and four potatoes for $50 and 12 pounds with six cobs and six potatoes for $75. À la carte is also offered at $6.99 per pound of crawfish; two corn cobs are $2, two potatoes are $1.50, one corn and one potato are $1.75, and a sausage link is $2.30.

The Montrose restaurant has crawfish spaghetti — with BOH pasta, peas and pecorino — and crawfish rolls with aioli. Curbside pickup is available 1-8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

The Memorial City location of the New Orleans-themed restaurant is selling crawfish-boil packages starting at 11 a.m. until sold out every Friday through Sunday.
