Regarding “County backs down as eatery defies order,” (A1, April 23): From the photograph of a customer warmly greeting the owner, social distancing is certainly not a priority. To the patron who needs to “have some fun with our girlfriends,” are you certain no one in the kitchen sneezed on your food or adjusted his mask with dirty hands or had a hole in his glove? My personal boycott may not mean much, but I will never patronize this restaurant.

It seems to me if someone does not follow health orders and not only gets COVID-19 and spreads the virus, they certainly do not deserve any “room at the hospital.”

In the middle of a serious crisis that has killed over 50,000 Americans, Michael Kubosh, as a sitting Houston City Council member, openly defied an executive order designed to save lives.
As an elected official, you have encouraged others to break the rule of law, and you had the nerve to compare yourself to Rosa Parks. Parks refused to stand to protect her rights as an American and a human being.
You, instead, sat to stuff your face. You sir are no Rosa Parks.

Wow, if Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo isn’t the least effective county judge in the state, she has to be darned close. What possible good does it do to stand at a podium reading a statement, knowing that it wasn’t going to be enforced? If it is an order, then send the deputies to arrest the owner/manager of the place and fine him like all the other citizens have been subjected to if they fail to follow orders. Of course, if a deputy’s main job is to hand out free face masks, like toys at Christmastime, then the judge’s orders are useless.
