WILLIE T. AND ODELL RUDD 82ND ANNIVERSARY

-

6-1-2020

Today, June 1, 2020, Willie T. and Odell Rudd would have celebrated 82 years of matrimony. The two did share 70 years together before Willie passed in 2008.

Odell Rudd passed April 2, 2020, (unrelated to COVID-19) two days shy of her 96th birthday. She was born April 4, 1924, in Waskom, Texas. She always shared stories about her visits to nearby Linden, Texas, to visit her relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents Hobert and Carrie Lockett; her sons, Willie T. Rudd Jr. and Cardell Rudd; her grandsons John Miller, Darrell Young and Stacey Rudd; her great grandchildren, Michael and Myles McCurdy; her twin sister Novell Arrant and other siblings Alma Thomas, LD Lockett, Idell Thomas, Alice V. Elgin, Frank Lockett and Azzie Lockett.

Odell is survived by her children Eva Stephens, Margie Stephens, Azzie Rudd, Beverly Ann Miller, Rachel Rudd-Gordon, Ronald Rudd and Donna Rudd-Hines, all of Houston; 20 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

At a very early age, Odell accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and had all nine of her children baptized at an early age. She and her husband raised their children to avoid confrontation, teaching them to put everything in God’s hands.

Odell was loved by many, and people she worked for became her personal friends to the end. She enjoyed reading the Houston Chronicle and “Destined to Reign Devotional“each day. So amazing that the last book she was reading was “Heaven Is So Real!” She had a heart for stray cats. Above all, her true passion in life was her family, whom she adored. She took great pride in housekeeping skills and kept an immaculate home. Nothing gave her more pleasure than cooking for her family and making a difference in people’s lives.

That dreadful morning, April 2, 2020, Odell’s family wasn’t able to be with her when she passed in the hospital. However, the moment she took her last breath, we knew she was absent from the body and present with the Lord. To God be the glory.

Willie T. and Odell are together again wrapped in the loving arms of Jesus!
