-

Bill Yeoman, the winningest football coach in University of Houston history, has tested positive for COVID-19, his son Bill Jr. said Thursday.

Yeoman, 92, tested positive during a scheduled visit to the doctor last week.

“He’s doing well,” Bill Jr. said. “He really has no respiratory issues. All of that is good.”

Yeoman won 160 games and four Southwest Conference championships and made 11 bowl appearances in his 25 seasons with the Cougars. Yeoman was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He retired in 1986.

• It’s been three weeks since Longhorn studentathletes released a letter calling on Texas to make real changes to create a more racially educated and accepting atmosphere on campus.

At least one Longhorn has grown restless with how little progress has been made over that time. And until at least some of those requests are met, Texas junior linebacker DeMarvion Overshown won’t be an active member of the football team.

“First off, I will like to start by saying that I have a lot of love for my teammates, coaches and The University of Texas,” Overshown said Thursday on Twitter. “As most of you know, the student-athletes put out a statement three weeks ago demanding some changes that are long overdue. We have been told that things are being done behind closed doors but have yet to see any changes. We are constantly preached urgency throughout the program and I feel that the university should be held to the same standard.”
