Coronavirus testing

- Debbie Lewis, Katy

Regarding “Springer sits due to another delay in testing,” (C2, July 15): The shortage of coronavirus tests and the length of time it takes to get results leads me to question the added burden to the system imposed by the sheer number of tests sports teams are requiring in order to protect their players. It does not seem to be in the public good to be expending resources for sports when people who are feeling ill or who may have been exposed are turned away due to lack of availability.

I love the Astros and I miss baseball, but it is just a game. For MLB and other sports to be testing all those people, using up medical resources that are scarce, when we are fighting for our lives seems irresponsible. Please wait and stay safe. I’ll be devastated if even one of them becomes ill. If I can’t get a test when I need it, I’ll be angry.
