If Delle Donne sits, team will pay
The Washington Mystics intend to pay Elena Delle Donne despite the WNBA denying its reigning MVP a medical exemption to opt out of the league's season, according to Mike Thibault,
the team's coach and general manager.
A league-appointed panel of doctors denied the request by Delle Donne, who has Lyme disease. It means the Mystics don’t have to pay her $215,000 salary if she decides not to play. Delle Donne has not made a decision on playing in the 22-game season, which starts July 25 in Bradenton, Fla.
