Treemont reopens social activities to benefit residents
Treemont Retirement Community has spent the last six months being extra cautious, following the CDC and state COVID-19 rules for senior living facilities that focused on the extra risk for seniors. In recognition of the importance of social interaction for both the emotional and physical health of seniors, the state of Texas has now shifted its requirements to allow increased family visitation.
Treemont is taking advantage of this change in guidance to allow more family visits and to begin reopening internal social opportunities.
There are two main benefits of senior communities. One is providing a health/safety infrastructure of support for seniors that has staff taking appropriate action when observing a resident in need of a helping hand. This peace of mind benefit continues to be an important feature of senior living at Treemont.
The second benefit is offering easier social connections than when seniors are isolated in their single family homes. The changing rules related to COVID now allow Treemont to restart many of these beneficial social connections for their residents.
Treemont is reopening social connections, but doing it in a way that is focused on safety, and keeping appropriate protections in place, including mask wearing and social distancing.
“It is not one or the other, it is both re-establishing social connections, with appropriate safety precautions. As an expert in senior living, we believe we can do both to the benefit of our residents,” said Treemont executive director Rodney Brooks.
“Our residents were thrilled to celebrate Oktoberfest with a barbecue on the back patio and Tap Truck. We have also restarted our musical entertainment in our auditorium that is large enough for residents to safely spread out while enjoying the music and socializing with friends,” he said.
Treemont is now open to tours on the Independent Living side. Call Lupe, Linda or Keri at 713-7836820 to schedule a visit.
