Sarah Rothenberg performs Morton Feldman’s last piano work, “Palais de Mari” (1986), in the Menil’s ancient art gallery surrounded by rare objects from the same era as the ruined Mesopotami­an palace of 2400 B.C., which inspired Feldman’s compositio­n. The mesmerizin­g cinematic performanc­e interweave­s avantgarde music with ancient artworks and artifacts.
