Man charged in slaying of pastor inside church

A 21-year-old man faces charges of capitalmurder and aggravated assault after a shooting left an East Texas pastor dead and two others injured.

Mytrez DeunteWoolen was hiding frompolice when he shot Mark Allen McWilliams at Starrville Methodist Church on Sunday morning, authorities said.

The pastor was armed and drew his gun, but Woolen lunged at the pastor and took the weapon from him, Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith said. The man fatally shot the pastor, Smith said. Another person was being treated for gunshot wounds, and a third was taken to a hospital after a fall, the sheriff said.
