Boys

RJ Keene, Concordia Lutheran

Notable: The Boise State signee’s step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer helped Concordia Lutheran to a 93-90 victory over Westbury Christian. Keene finished with 32 points in the victory, Concordia Lutheran’s third over Westbury Christian this season and its 10th in a row. Keene is one of Houston’s top overall players in the Class of 2021.

What coach Bill Honeck said: “It was one of those things I’ve seen him do so many times, I just know he’s that kind of player that wants to take that last shot. I wasn’t that surprised to see it go in. Definitely proud of him. It was good for him and good for our team. It was a great win.”

Other nominees

Drew Calderon, College Park: The Indiana State signee scored 18 points in an 87-50 victory over Conroe and had 17 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists in a 61-57 victory over Oak Ridge.

Reggie Branch, Crosby: Branch had 25 carries for 200 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-28 victory over Fort Bend Marshall, putting the Cougars in the Class 5A Division II state semifinals.

Shadrach Banks, North Shore: The Texas

A&M signee made a light day of work look extraordin­ary in a 56-14 victory over Ridge Point. Banks had two catches for 108 yards, including a 91-yard touchdown, and a 43-yard punt return. North Shore is headed to the Class 6A Division I state semifinals.

Girls

Ashlyn Jones,

Klein Oak

Notable: The LouisianaL­afayette signee scored 28 points against Tomball on Saturday, surpassing 1,000 points in her high school career. Jones averaged 20.7 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks in games against Atascocita, Oak Ridge and Tomball last week, including 16 points and 10 rebounds against Atascocita and 18 points and 10 rebounds against Oak Ridge.

What coach Michael Prejean said: “She’s our leader on and off the court. She is a great student-athlete. She’s also going to be inducted into the National Honor Society soon. … Our kids depend on her. She knows it and she still leads with grace.”

Reese Rupe, Grand Oaks: Rupe scored four goals as Grand Oaks rolled to a season-opening 5-0 soccer victory over Bryan.

Victoria Moore, Dulles: Moore tallied 17 points, 10 assists and six steals in a 71-42 victory over Ridge Points.

Kaley Perkins, Langham Creek: The Oklahoma signee scored 20 points with four 3-pointers in an 81-39 victory over Cypress Woods.
