DEFENSIVE LINE

-

The linemen didn’t play the run well, and they didn’t pressure the quarterback enough. J. J. Watt played 16 games and was the Texans’ best lineman. He had a career-low five sacks. He played against double-teams and had little help from other pass rushers. Quarterbacks worked hard to get rid of the ball quickly. Charles Omenihu made the most improvement in his second season. Rookie Ross Blacklock made a couple of plays at the end of the season and needs to show the new coaching staff a lot of improvement. Injuries to P. J. Hall and Brandon Dunn hurt the line. Depending on what base defense the new coordinator will implement, the line could undergo significant changes.
