District missing $440K worth of instruments

The internal audit department for Conroe Independent School District found 153 instruments valued at nearly $440,000 were missing during the last school year.

Brian Hayden, the administrative internal audit manager for the district, presented the findings to the audit committee board on Wednesday. It has been 10 years since the district last did an audit of high school band instruments, and this was the first time a true audit had been done of junior high instruments.
