Zoning panel set to crack down on signs in district
Montgomery’s Planning and Zoning Commission plans to crack down on unauthorized signage and banners in the historic district.
Assistant City Administrator Dave McCorquodale informed the commission last Tuesday that the city implemented a signage ordinance in 2015, which addresses the downtown area, including temporary signage.
He mentioned that businesses in the historic district are using the signs and banners to increase traffic to the district, which the commission acknowledged has had challenges during the pandemic.
The five establishments include a restaurant, boutique and donut shop that had banners and signs featuring messages for being open, help wanted, as well as business names and services.
